Reference
Here is the scissor that we will be drawing for this guide. It’s more of a tailor’s scissors that is used for cutting cloth.
To give you a quick idea of how we will go about this drawing, we will first draw the handles and then move onto drawing the blades. Once we are done with this step, we will had the final details.
Steps For Drawing A Scissors
Step 1
Begin your drawing by sketching out an oval shape. However, notice that the top lines overlap each other. Include this detail in your drawing as well.
Step 2
At the front of that shape, draw two small parallel lines. Below that, draw another oval shape as I have done above.
Step 3
Surround that shape by drawing a few lines around the oval. This will be the second handle of the scissor.
Step 4
Go back to the top handle and extend those two parallel lines out. Draw another angled line to close that shape off. Do the shape for the bottom handle.
Step 5
Join these two handles together by drawing a sideways V shape. At the top of that point, draw a long curved line leaving a good distance between the handle and this line.
Step 6
Draw another line to create this dagger like shape making the end pointed.
Step 7
Below that shape, draw a straight line in an angle and then draw another short line going slightly upwards.
Step 8
Draw another angled line to match the one below it and connect it to the first blade. Now you should be nearing to the end of this scissors drawing.
Step 9
Now that you are almost done, all you need to do is to had the final details like the screw that holds these two blades together.
You can do this by drawing a small circle and then drawing a line that curves within that circle.
Then draw a line across the top blade and a final short vertical line between the screw and the this curved line.
Step 10
If you like, add some color to your drawing by using two different shades of grey. I used a light grey for the blades and a darker grey for the handles. Then I left the screw white.
Once you have done this step, I’m happy to inform you that this tutorial on how to draw a scissors is now complete.
Conclusion
It may seem difficult to draw a scissors at first but once you have the main portions of the drawing down, everything becomes way easier to tell where something should go.
If you prefer to draw a different scissor, I’m sure the same steps will apply.
