How To Draw A Birthday Cake (Step By Step Tutorial)
It was my mum’s birthday recently and I wanted to create a special card for her filled with cute doodles and a sweet message which led me to drawing this cute birthday cake.
And while I was at it, I thought it would be a good idea to create a tutorial on how to draw a birthday cake step by step for anyone else who wants to create their own handmade card for their loved ones to make them feel special.
This drawing is a really easy one compared to the ones we have done together if you have been here before but for anyone who’s looking to draw something fun and easy, this is one of the best one’s you should try.
Anyone can draw this so you don’t need any extravagant drawing skills.
But you will need a few colored markers or pencils to make this drawing pop at the end and look even better.
If this sounds good, we can get started on the first step. Grab that pencil or pen and let’s go.
Steps For Drawing A Birthday Cake
Step 1
To draw an adorable birthday cake, start by drawing a rough square like this. It doesn’t need to be perfect but make the corners slightly rounded.
Step 2
At the top of that square, draw two curved lines to make it look like a circle. We’ll be able to add in the candles later on to make it look amazing.
Step 3
Every cake needs some kind of decoration so add yours in.
You don’t need to do it exactly as I have done over here but if you have a good idea of how you want your birthday cake to look, this is the time to do it.
I have chosen to draw three layers of wavy frosting which I will color in later.
Step 4
Then add in some sprinkles and you can do this by drawing a few uneven circles scattered in between each layer of frosting.
Step 5
To draw the candles, draw two parallel lines and then draw a smaller line at the top of that shape. Then draw the flame around the wick to make it look like it’s lit.
Now your birthday cake drawing is completed.
You can continue to draw more decorations or leave it as is but if you want to create a 2 or 3 layered cake, then simple redraw the previous steps just below this one leaving out the candles.
Step 6
Now comes the really fun part and that’s making your drawing look alive. It’s time to color!
I’ve used a few shades of yellows and pinks to decorate my cake but you can choose whichever color you prefer.
Conclusion
I had so much fun creating this guide on how to draw a birthday cake and I think I might do a few more of these in the future.
